A visit to Extendicare...

Today we spent some time with the residents at Extendicare. We are always excited to meet up and share some books with them! We also checked on our bunny friend while we were there...

Art is everywhere...

Check out these AMAZING examples of street art from around the world. This is a great I think it would be wonderful to be able to see this as I walked to get a cup of coffee and a newspaper on a Saturday morning.
Which is your favourite? What is it that made you choose that piece of art?

Spring has sprung!

This month, our Author Spotlight is on a wonderful poet, Douglas Florian. His only rule in poetry is that there are no rules - we love that!

Here is a poem from Douglas Florian's book, Handsprings.

Spring is great
For growing grass.
Spring has zing
And spring has sass.
Spring is super.
Spring is spry.
Spring is when
Things start to fly.
Spring is great
For many reasons.
Spring does handsprings
Round the seasons.

What do YOU think of when it comes to springtime? What are some of the things you might see, touch, hear, taste, or smell in the spring?

Let me know in a comment!

Moving Away...

In Social Studies, we have been working on convincing our parents to move to Tunisia, India, Peru, or the Ukraine. I am LOVING your creative ideas and reasons. You are so convincing that I am starting to worry I might lose a couple of students!
In that activity, we chose one of the four countries from our Social Studies program.
What if you could choose ANY place on Earth?
Where would you move to?
Why would you choose that place?
What do you think it would be like (think of SENSORY language to help you with this)?

Think about your idea for a couple of minutes and visualize all of the interesting (best and worst) parts of moving to this new place.
After you have spent some time visualizing, write about the place you would move to, using STRONG sentences and DESCRIPTIVE language in a comment.
I am excited to hear from you!
