The first day back was so great! I love all those new school supplies and fresh haircuts. The kids and the staff are alway so excited to start a new year. Today the Grade Threes came home with their agendas and the school newsletter for September. They also have a field trip permission form that needs to be returned in the next week.
Thanks for such a great start to the school year kids. I had a blast!

Hi there Grade Threes!
Well, summer is over (big sigh). But, I am pretty excited to start a new school year with such a great group of kids. This will be my first year in Grade Three, so I will be learning some things right along with you.
Here are the big things you need to know about our classroom:
1. Honesty, trust, and mutual respect are the core values of our class.
2. Our classroom has an open door policy - parents, you are welcome any time.
Students are encouraged to read every night. Record your reading in your Home Reading Log to earn Reading Counts points and prizes.
I will be consistently posting information about our class on this blog. This will be one communication tool for our classroom. Homework, special events, and any other reminders will be posted here. Students and parents are encouraged to comment on any posts - just make sure to write your name so I know who to respond to.
The other tool, and a very important one, is the agenda. Students will bring their agendas home each night. Parents can check agendas for messages and initial them. This is also a good place to write down any appointments or absences that your child may have.
I am really looking forward to the next school year! Thanks to all the parents and students for helping us build a solid classroom community.

Even though it is still summer vacation, the MRES spirit of giving is still in full swing. One of our Kiva loans was repaid and we were able to reloan that money to Felicitas, a clothing-maker in Peru. She lives with her husband and has five grown children. Her dream is to produce more clothing and have a larger variety of fabrics to work with. I am happy that we could assist her in reaching her goal. If you would like to learn more about Felicitas, click on the link below.
